I stopped in for a late lunch in the middle of the week and was pleasantly surprised. The food was fresh, the service was prompt, friendly and professional. Apparently this restaurant is part of a chain, but they managed to keep the menu interesting and varied. Although they seem to do most of their business at supper time the were well patronized at lunch. The ambiance was quiet for a mostly young crowd.
I had mostly maki for my lunch. The individual rolls were well made and fresh.
I'll be back. -

Mentaiko Tiger Prawn Linguine
Seafood Salad
Chopped Scallop Roll
Review: LET ME TELL YOU this linguine -- HANDSDOWN BEST LINGUINE I THINK I TASTED IN MY ENTIRE LIFE. Sorta sad, I haven't eaten much pasta in my life but the sauce. YES. When you mix the fish roe and the creamy sauce together with the pasta and the prawns... AMAZING. Let me try to describe. When the pasta enters ur mouth, it is pleasantly welcomed the creamy, rich, LUCIOUS sauce and with every bite, there is fish roe popping in your mouth giving you this AMAZING SURPRISE. The bite of the linguine is pre much perfect. Everything together is literally perfect. The flavours marrying each other and coming together as one produces the most beautiful taste profile. I could describe for SO long but we have to move on. For the seafood salad, it was good, very tasty but it's more of a I can have it or I don't have it sort of moment. The seafood with the rice noodles and sauce was really good with the fresh crunch of lettuce. I feel like the seafood salad is a bit overpriced for what you get but whatever. Now for the chopped scallop roll. We all know by now that I LOVE CHOPPED SCALLOP ROLLS. I just HAD to try to one here. I think it's just mediocre. Really not anything special. Obviously it tasted good but there are places that make it better. Overall, I cannot stress enough but YOU HAVE TO TRY THE MENTAIKO TIGER PRAWN LINGUINE BEFORE YOU DIE. YOU HAVE TO. it is SO GOOD. The seafood salad was pretty refreshing and set the tone for the meal. I would recommend it but it isn't a NEED for the meal. For the chopped scallop roll it was just okay, not bad though, just OKAY. And if anyone is wondering, the prices there are AMAZING. The food is so cheap for so much, I left with a very full stomach
Rating: 10/10 I really can't complain today. The linguine really pulled through. -

I was very excited to see a Sushi California opened here! After my first visit I was very impressed and would recommend it.
The service was excellent. Servers were very friendly and attentive, and the chefs were working hard and fast.
For food, I got a LOT for a very cheap price. I tried the chicken katsu roll and the katsu was very crunchy and crispy. I also got the salmon and tuna sashimi which was huge portions. The unagi box sushi was okay, I was expecting it to be more like oshi style and I think would have really benefited from being seared/torched. I also got the crispy gyoza which was very good.
My ONLY downs were that the gyoza was served with tartar sauce which was odd, and they didn't have regular gyoza vinegar dipping sauce! Also the salmon sashimi tasted a little off and I had a bone in one of my pieces. Regardless, I would definitely come back !! -

*This Review is for Take-Out*
We had a gigantic order for a birthday party and Sushi California showed up and showed off!
Everything we ordered was prepared and presented nicely so that during transport nothing went amiss. Everything was fresh and made perfectly. Good portions of fish and toppings and the pressed sushi was so beautiful. Everything tasted delicious! They had decent sushi and nigiri combos to allow for a wide-range of flavours and tastes.
Chopped Scallop Nigiri had large chunks of scallops and the mix of mayo and masago was creamy and perfect.
The Salmon Nigiri and BBQ Eel were long thick slices and the freshness and taste was great.
The Tamago was sweet, savoury, soft and paired so nicely with the rice.
Overall, Sushi California was a great take-out choice and they gave us a ton of chopsticks and soy sauce. I'll definitely try to eat-in next time! -

I am so happy they have opened a chain in Surrey Food is so delicious! The seared nigiri is definitely my favourite (worth the extra charge!). I also enjoy their miso chicken salad when I want to eat my greens, but also want turnips! The prices are quite decent, and the portions are very generous. The service is up and down to me: sometimes the servers are very attentive and helpful, and sometimes the busy hours can be too much for them. But other than that, this place is full of buzz and worth a visit!
